The Sikhs have a very rich history of valor and rendering yeoman's service to the community. All the Sikh Gurus have preached and practised compassion. The sikh religion has always preached the practice of righteousness and rectitude.
Among the many Gurudwaras of Delhi , Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is blessed by the healing powers of the eighth Sikh Guru Shri Harkrishan Sahib and tenth Sikh Guru Shri Gobind Singh Sahib wrote in his famous "Vaar Shri Bhagauti Jee Kee", "Remember the name of Guru Harkrishan seeing whom all sorrows are dispelled".
During the Sikh festivals the Gurudwara is tastefully decorated and is teeming with the devotees. Bangla Sahib was Constructed By Sardar Baghel Singh and this Shrine is daily visited by thousands of devotees of all faiths.
The place where the Gurdwara now stands was once a splendid bungalow of Raja Jai Singh, Amber of Jaipur. It is instantly recognizable by its stunning golden dome, white-faced tower and tall flagpole. On holidays Sikhs, Hindus, and devotees from many other faiths throng the Gurudwara to pay their obeisance.
The Gurudwara is packed with devotees of all faiths and denominations. The gurudwara is built on the site of a house where Guru Harkishen Dev, the eight guru of the Sikhs, had stayed when he visited Delhi in 1664.
The tank, which you can still see in the compound was apparently blessed by the Guru himself and can cure people of small pox and cholera. Enthusiasts of Sikh history can visit the Baba Baghel Singh Museum within the gurudwara complex.
The sikh gurus have taught us to work in good faith as a duty imposed by God, abandoning fear for a bad result and giving up hope of reward for a good result.
